Happy 3rd Birthday To Ken's Kidney

Kidney Walk 2015

Today Ken and I walked with Stefanie, Danny, Addie, Sophie and Jillie in our 5th Kidney Walk.  It was a beautiful day and we were surrounded by so many families dressed in t-shirts honoring Kidney patients and Kidney donors. There was such an energy in the crowd.  People talking to each other and sharing their stories.  A lady asked Ken about his shirt - A Kidney For Ken.  He told her his story and she listened intently.  After hearing about his journey she told him she had renewed hope that she will find a donor one day too.  There was no sadness out there today.  There was hope and faith that more people will consider becoming living donors.  God gave us two kidneys but we only need one to live - maybe He was giving us the chance to become a hero and save a life.

Ken and Evan
On September 10, 2015 we celebrated the third birthday of Ken's kidney transplant.  Life has been good to us this year.  Ken and I accompanied by Ralph, Roxanne, Jockamo, and MeeMaw Roach performed at many schools in the area.  We had the time to visit our daughter Kelly, Alex and Gus on a number of occasions.  This summer we spent two amazing weeks with Greg, Camille, and our grandson, Evan in California.  We are so lucky to have more time now to spend with our granddaughters Addie, Sophie and Jillie.  God has been good to us.

Ken still has lab work done every two weeks and now is on a first name basis with the ladies in the lab.  He has had a few problems and will have a surgical procedure in a few weeks.  We have become used to this "normal" routine. We both thank God for His blessings and all of you for the prayers that started 5 years ago when this blog began.  We want you to know that those prayers have lifted us up and made this journey so much easier.  Please continue to pray for Ken and know you are always in our prayers.  Pray for all those who have received transplants, waiting for transplants, and on dialysis.  May God wrap His arms around them and their families.

Until the next time may the Lord carry us on our journey,
Pat
